Why Would You Try a Golf Swing Training Course?

Most people have a specific golf swing that is unique to them, even if they have had the same instructor. Sam wasn't sure why this was the case. He decided to watch some of the better regulars and see what they did differently from all the rest. A month later, he discovered that many of these men also worked out and were physically fit. These were the golfers that tended to have lower scores and played on a consistent basis.

This is why Sam decided to talk to a golf pro about ways he could get some of the same consistency. After their conversation, he signed up for some golf swing training courses. He hoped the drills and exercises would improve his golf swing and increase his overall fitness level.

How can golf swing training courses improve someone's swing?

- Certain stretching exercises can prevent injuries.
- You will be able to play at a higher level of play when you are physically fit.
- The body will have a better range of motion.
- It will be easier to hit the ball farther because of more speed in the club head.
- You will gain more power in your swing when you have full range of motion.
- Flexibility can increase with rotational exercises.
- There are more exercises and drills online.

Many of today's top professional golfers regularly participate in golf drills and exercises so they have the competitive edge over their competition. The golf swing training courses they use help them gain a full range of motion, which increases the power found in the swing. The rotational exercises make it easier to play at a higher level of play on a consistent basis.

Those who are physically fit and flexible find it is easier to increase their speed. They also find they can move the club farther. The more the body can turn, the more there is an increase in power. This can protect someone from a golf-related injury.

There are a number of golfers who use specific rotational exercises to increase their flexibility. The golf swing training course they use helps them loosen their joints and strengthens the muscles they use in a golf swing. One exercise is to use a dumbbell and twist the body side to side. Another is to touch the toes or to twist with your arms extended outward. This will develop more flexibility in the shoulders, hips and back.

Are Golf Swing Training Aids Worth the Price?

Dave doesn't live in the city or near a large shopping area, so buying items for golf can be a little difficult for him. Of course, each golf course usually has a pro shop where you can buy golf equipment and clothing, but if you are looking for specific golf swing training aids, you might have a difficult time. Some people don't believe in using these types of aids in the first place, since they think that they are all scams or that they don't work. So are golf swing training aids really worth the price?

- Dave had developed some pretty serious problems with his driver and he had gotten to the point where he didn't even want to swing in front of his buddies. So he needed to look at golf swing training aids that would help him develop confidence in his swing in addition to adding more distance. Luckily, there were several very good aids that promised to do just that.

- Like most people, he was a little reluctant to buy and try something that could potentially harm his swing, so he went online and looked at the reviews. Once he had identified a couple of golf swing training aids that looked good to him, he read the reviews to see what others said about them.

- There are several very good websites that have a variety of golf aids available for people of all ages and levels of experience. Because Dave was a little older, he didn't want something that was too strenuous, so he went to a site that catered to men over the age of 40 and found what he was looking for.

- Although he did end up paying a little more for the training equipment than he had initially hoped, he found that it almost immediately solved his problem. It helped him swing straighter, follow through in a way that he hadn't before and even hit the ball further off the tee.

So, for Dave, using a training aid was the best investment in his golf game that he had made in years. Having the confidence to stand in the tee box again was something that he needed if he was ever going to enjoy playing golf, so his investment was well worth it. You might also find that if you do the research and find the right aid, you will fix your golf issues, too.

Golf Swing Training Aids

Everyone is looking for the best golf swing training aid that will straighten out that slice or make the ball stop like a dime when it lands on the green. And are there a lot of them out there just waiting for you and your hard earned money. You can find footprints that can help you stance, specially designed golf balls, contraptions that hold you still as you duplicate that perfect swing and many mechanical devices. There is also a full complement of videos, DVDs, books and diagrams, all guaranteed to shave shots off your score.

Some of these teaching aids are great and some are complete rip offs. The secret is to decide exactly what part of your game you need to improve and then find a teaching aid that focuses on that particular golf skill. Then, use the darn thing. Not just on your way to the course , but set up a daily schedule and follow it. Maybe its only for ten minutes, but that's fine. Simply put, golf swing training aids help your body memorize the correct muscle movement as you swing the golf club. The more you repeat the exercise, the faster your brain will retain the action and send the plan along to the appropriate muscle groups. The PGA pros didn't develop their great golf swings by accident. They all spend thousands of hours swinging all of their golf clubs in every possible situation they can experience on the golf course. That's why is looks so easy on Sunday afternoon.

Most amateurs are interested in golf teaching aids that focus on the actual golf swing. However, a training aid that works for your driver, probably won't help make that delicate chip shot a few feet from the cup. They are completely different golf shots and use different muscle groups. Therefore, it is best to shop for a training aid that specifically addresses the specific part of your golf game you want to improve.

Before buying, do some research. The best place for this is online. Google golf training aids and start to check out some of the web sites that show up in your browser. Don't get drawn in by the hype. Remember, you are simply gathering information. The buying comes later. Is the site, just selling, or do they offer helpful information about improving your golf game and specific reasons why their product will solve your problem. A great place to get information is the FAQ page. If the web site doesn't have one or it is stuffed full of hype, go somewhere else.

Make sure the web site is not a one product wonder. Credible online golf training aid web sites offer a wide variety of golf teaching aids. This lets you know they are professionals and serious about their business. Finally, see if any "name" golf professionals endorse or even better, participate in developing and presenting some instruction with their training aids. The men and women have a reputation and simply aren't interested in promoting a training aid that won't help the golfer.

Finally, make sure there is a good instruction manual or video that comes with the golf club training aid. Nothing is worse than not quite understanding how it works and then finding out it was being used incorrectly.

Whatever golf training aid you choose, stick with it. Believe in it and above all practice with it.

How Helpful Are Golf Swing Training Aids?

A lot of golfers write me and ask about various golf training aids that they have seen or that their golfing buddies have recommended. First let me start out by saying that I am not against swing trainers. There are some that I use and recommend, but I also have seen a lot of junk on the market that many golfers buy and see zero results from using them. But I don't position myself as an expert on swing trainers, so if there are some out there that I am not familiar with, please feel free to email me about them and I will check them out and get back to you.

First I want to talk for a minute about who, in my opinion, should use swing trainers and for what purposes. Then I will mention a couple that I like personally. What I am attempting to do in this article is give you an objective opinion that will help you to determine what is best for your golf swing.

I believe that players of all abilities can benefit from golf swing trainers. But what they use them for and which ones, I believe, is a golf cart of a different color. First let's talk about beginner to intermediate golfers.

For beginner golfers especially, I think that a swing trainer that focuses on the basics or fixes major flaws can help. I don't think that these golfers should go for something that increases power or distance or that works on perfect swing plan. They are not quite ready for that yet. Usually beginner golfers should focus on things like grip, stance, tempo, fixing a major slice or hook, and making consistent solid contact. I'll talk a little later about some training aids that can help with these types of things.

Now for the more advanced golfers, there are an abundance of devices that can help everything from power and distance, tempo, manufacturing a fade or draw, and several other things. Many of these golfers are already very good and may only be fine tuning their golf swing. But I would still recommend a little advice from your teaching pro if these golfers are considering tweaks to their golf swing using a training aid.

Now to some specific recommendations for golfers on swing training aids. For beginning golfers, two problems that I see quite consistently are swinging too fast and major slice problems. And there are a couple of simple swing training aids that help very nicely with both of these problems.

The first of these is the Kallassy Swing Magic. It is a simple trainer that can really help with a slice problem. It is a club the size of a normal golf club although it's not made to hit actual golf balls. But it has a sliding part for one of your hands (depending on whether you are right or left handed) that helps pull your swing into good position to hit a straighter shot or even a slight draw. It can really help eliminate a slice. It is simple and easy to use as well.

Another helpful and simple swing training aid for beginners is the Swing Tempo from GP Golf. It is a simple electronic device that can really help you develop a slower, smoother tempo for your golf swing. And as many of you golfers already know, slower and smoother usually equals a better golf shot.

In another article I will talk more about specific golf swing training aids for the more advanced golfers.

What Are the Best Golf Swing Trainers and How to Get the Most Out of Your Golf Swing Training Aids

When most people discuss golf swing trainers, they mean those modified hinged clubs made by Medicus and Momentus. These clubs are meant to help you train and perfect your golf swing mechanics. When you swing your club wrongly, these trainers will "break" apart.

Do these golf swing trainers work? Yes, if you know the theory of how to swing your golf club correctly. In addition, you need to know if you are using a one plane swing or a two plane swing. Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh use the one plane swing, while Jack Nicklaus and many other golf pros use the two plane swing. Which type of swing is that golf swing trainer designed for? If you have any doubts, write in to the manufacturer and ask them. Face it, these things are not cheap.

Companies like Medicus and Momentus produce golf swing trainers for both drivers and irons. Their golf swing training drivers are the most useful. Face it, you will use your driver 10% to 20% of your time in a round of golf, but use each iron only two or three times. Getting the golf swing trainer for the driver will give you the most bang for the buck. Another machine you may find useful is the golf swing plane trainer. This is a pretty bulky machine, available in some golf clubs and golf schools. Golf instructors sometimes use it to help train their students to master the correct golf swing mechanics. Used correctly, this machine will help you to master the correct tempo and swing your club in the correct plane.

By far, the cheapest and most useful golf swing training aids are golf club training grips. The training grip will teach you how to grip a golf club correctly. You will be surprised how many weekend golfers find their slices and other golfing problems disappearing once they learn how to grip their golf clubs correctly. Amazon is selling these training grips for $5 to $15. However, it is better if you get it from your local golf shops or golf schools, where they can help you get the correct fit. Unless you have a big budget to blow, you should get your putter fitted first. After all, you spend 30% to 40% of your time on the green. The next clubs to get fitted would be your wedges. Most golfers spend another 15% to 20% of their time chipping up to the green. Last is your driver.

Another excellent golf swing training aid is a video camera and tripod and plenty of cheap golf balls. Just spend some time capturing a video of yourself swinging your club at hundreds of golf balls and you will soon see your most obvious mistakes. When you can no longer spot any mistakes in your golf swing techniques, this is the time to schedule more advanced golf swing lessons with your local pro.

My favorite golf swing training aids are the video camera and training grips, followed by golf swing trainers for drivers. Combine these with some judicious help from your local golf pro, and you will quickly lower your golf handicap.
